First Day of Hurricane, I mean, School

Today is the first day of school. It is also one of the first hurricane watches coming our way in Florida.

I wanted to work on this pile of polka-dots. But I will work on this pile of wet towels instead.

These spools look like fun, but maybe the water will be more useful?
If you look very closely on the weather satellite, our house is right where that big orange blob is headed (smack center of the state). Yesterday I felt like the little Dutch-boy holding a finger in the dyke, so who knows what will happen tonight when it really hits? But alas, we have a house, we are not in a shelter or a car, and everyone is safe. It is just a leaky house. But it is still a pain. Plus I would rather be sewing....

We hauled all the yard toys in this morning. They go under the shed covering.

We would have preferred to plant our vegetable garden, but hurricanes tend to change the gardening plan!

Stay safe, and remember...we have a gas stove and water heater...we'll be able to cook and shower through any power outage! You're welcome to make the 2-block journey if you need to. We love company!

Thanks, Donna! We may take you up on that. Heiko, my non-handyman-but-doing-a-great-job, is up on the roof right now trying to patch! Maybe we will swim over..

'looks like the hurricane settled down, but we are getting a lot of rain. Found one more leak and part of a fence fell over, but other than that...

They had their first day, and the one off for the hurricane! But they head back tomorrow...
