Another I-wish-I-had-a-baby-girl hat

A bunch of people have commented that they would like to see more baby hats in my shop.
So, here's another one, with its cute little red and white gingham "tail".
The little girl will start early with looking fashionable, don't you think? I will be putting up a couple of more in the shop this afternoon...

Happy pretty giveaway

My 1ooth post was this week and I thought I'd celebrate with a fun giveaway. Pouch is constructed with gorgeous Michael Miller fabric with a happy polka dot lining (with a tiny slice of perky red in the corner). A red grosgrain ribbon keeps your keys handy. A tissue holder to match. Won't it look cute in your purse??
It's all wrapped up in a French gingham bow, ready for you or a friend. In order to enter, leave a comment below - maybe give me ideas of what you'd like to see in my shop or comments about my blog? Entries will be open until midnight, November 2nd. The winner will be contacted on Monday, November 3rd.
Don't forget to leave me a way to contact you, either through your blog or email. Have fun!
Also, check out all of these other freebies.....

Vocabulary Words

With SATs and more difficult high school work, we tried writing new words on this wall in the kitchen. We decide together which two words we will use and go over the meanings. It works for me. Well, kinda.
I used one of the words (which we had discussed at length) and Micah looked at me with a totally blank face. 'had never heard the word. 'didn't know what it meant.

But we can at least say that we're trying. Check out what works for other people...

Christmas is around the corner....

I put these sets in my etsy shop, thinking they'd be great for teacher gifts or just to have on hand for a last-minute gift. I love the black and white with the pretty Michael Miller pinks and reds.
This fabric by Alexander Henry made me laugh when I first saw it. Put in a sparkly necklace or a gift card and you're good to go....

Beach Weekend

'spent the weekend with one of my best friends - we worked for years together in Berlin. She was able to see the boys at the high school Homecoming and then we took off for the coast. We slept in, went to the beach, read magazines and books, and watched chick flicks. And topped it off with a stop at the outlet mall. Life is good with girlfriends...

Glasses case

Most of the French postcard fabric that I have is illegible, but it is kinda fun to be able to read this one. I wonder if any of my letters will ever end up on fabric. Ha.
This case is just perfect for little "cheaters", the cheapie reading glasses that you get at the drug store. You know, the ones that are always breaking. I don't know how many pairs of those dumb things that I have bought. Anyway, they would look awfully cute in this.

Vintage Linens

These just make me drool. They are over 100 years old and were probably part of a dowry set of twelve. But only 3 of each remain with their little numbers. Whenever I saw them in German flea markets, I went berserk. Which means that I have more than I could possibly ever use. So, I am painfully putting them in my etsy shop, with the hopes that another linen-lover will enjoy them.

Corner of my Home

This is a little corner of my home. The poster is a placard from Poland, an advertisement for some sort of film exhibition. The ads are plastered on the the round posts (as seen in the poster) and I liked a placard that showed placards. The polka-dot shells are from Key West - they were going to be on the ends of curtain rods, but that never happened...

New baby cuteness

'am sending this fluffy little hat to a friend who just had her third baby. The little giraffe goes with it (...like any baby needs more stuffed animals. But it was sooooo soft).

Tales from the fair

The fair went ok - they say to take the price of the booth and multiply it by 10 and if you reach that amount, that means you did well. We accomplished that but we both surprised at the stuff that sold and didn't sell. These little tissue holders and ALL of my cosmetic bags were leftover. I thought they would go like that. I removed the price, but even after that, no one hardly looked at them nor asked them price. Hmmmm.

The other vendors also said that in an election year in the States, spending is always down, which is no big news for anyone. Everyone ooohed and aaaaahed over everything, but that didn't necessarily transfer to their wallets. 'not sure if the praise itself is worth the time...

Sunday blessing

On my way to pick up Micah from football practice, three sandhill cranes were walking near the street. They look like they should be in a wildlife museum, but they wander around town and you have to be careful not to drive over them. I jumped out with my camera and they ran away quickly. Don't they look like they are dancing?

"...small creatures and flying birds....Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens." (Psalm 148:10-13)

Off to the fair

My "fair" pile is getting pretty big and I am getting tired of sewing purses. But hopefully everyone else will like them!

Happy Market Bags

Two more very happy market bags to bring to the fair.

These are great because they fit just about everything. It seems that whenever I go somewhere I have my purse, something to return somewhere, something to give to someone, a magazine or a book and just plain junk. Never mind my knitting, a snack, my lesson plans, my keys.....

Sweater for a Friend

A friend of mine is moving from Florida to New Jersey. So I knit her a sweater (hee hee). At least it won't take up much room in the suitcase....

Halloween onesie

This was one of my weekend creations getting ready for the fair. Since Halloween coming up, I thought some little onesies might do well. They can still wear these in Florida :).

Does anyone else wonder if craft fairs are actually worth it? Sometimes I don't think I would want to add up my time and effort and what I have invested in materials and fees and everything else. It is fun, especially as others enjoy what I have made. But there are days that I wonder....

Sunday blessing

This little guy made it up our lamppost and was enjoying his day exploring. No worries. No cares.
"I tell you, do not worry about your life.....who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Matthew 6:25, 27). I need to follow his example...

Michael Miller and Alexander Henry pouches

Here are some pouches from the fabric that I ordered. Aren't the fabrics so cheery??
I love the bold contrast of the linings. Hopefully everyone at the fair will just not be able to walk by our booth and take some of these little guys home. One week and counting. I really should be sewing, but keep finding other things to do. Like laundry.

Little Ribbon Hat

Yet another use for ribbons. This little pixie is also going to the fair.

Thank you, Good Housekeeping!

I thought I had come up with uses for ribbons on just about everything, but Good Housekeeping beat me on this one. The ribbons are attached with doubled-sided tape and are good to go. 'off to market to find some cute little pumpkins.....

ready for market

These little brooches are ready for the fall festival and will hopefully be joined by some others. They look pretty happy to me.

Flea market sweetness

'found this at a local flea market and hung it by a pretty French ribbon (of course) on the mirror...

Sunday blessing

"All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all..."
Have a great Sunday!

Fall is (kinda) here

Fall is here. Well, kinda. In Florida, we are ready to take out the parkas when it gets down to 80 at night.

So, to remind myself that it is October, I hung these pretty leaves from the chandelier. There are no leaves falling outside, but at least I have them inside...

Indie shrug

Another sweater inspired by a trip to this store, where I love everything.

'found a pattern online and added a couple of extra little touches. It looks like it fits a toddler on the hanger but somehow stretches to fit nicely. All that time sitting in the bleachers watching soccer and football pays off....
