First Advent sure has come quickly this year! This angel from the Erzgebirge area of Germany is out all year round (I can't bear to put it away), but is now welcoming the beginning of the Christmas season.
"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
Here in Florida, when it gets anywhere even remotely close to the freezing point, we light a fire, unpack the sweaters and sip cocoa whenever possible. And because it is so cold (for us), I decided that I needed another sweater. Which won't possibly be done in a weekend, but I am going to go sit on the sofa and give it a good start....
Many days I feel like my life and my thoughts are a ferris-wheel......going round and round and round. I need to take the Psalmist's words to heart: "Be still, and know that I am God." (Ps. 46:10). May you also do that today.
A friend of mine needed favors for a wedding that she will be attending. The ladies in the bridal party will each get one of these little tissue holders (for when they start crying when Blair-the-beautiful-bride comes down the aisle). And of course, there is a pretty blue and white one for the bride....
You know, it's kinda hard to take a picture of yourself with a belt on. No one was home, and my boys are not exactly thrilled at taking pictures of me anyway. So I stood on a chair and managed this shot.
Belts with color and plaid and French fabric and polka-dots...life is good.
"...see how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matt. 6: 28, 34)
I love pink and will add it to any and everything. These pink fluffies are my answer to most any problem...just add to a t-shirt, a jacket, a black dress or a coat.
Here's another finished Christmas present for one of my nieces sitting atop our spice rack. When I first got this in Germany, I needed a little translation key nearby. I still have to be careful when I use it ---some of the boys' friends find it amusing to switch the spices and their labels. One morning, a very sleepy me used curry instead of cinnamon in the French toast...
This remnant of designer fabric was begging to be used. I liked the combination of the elegant stitching with the more casual ticking and how nicely it works together when bolted on a frame.
The stitching is gorgeous, isn't it? I covered it with tulle (hard to see in the photo) and wrapped it up with a pretty French ribbon! One Christmas present down.....
So far, just about everything that I have made with this fabric has sold. So I thought I'd try a French Market bag. This bag is the perfect size for toting things. I guess that's why they call them totes (heehee). The inside of the pocket is cute-cute red and white gingham.
The letter is pinned on as an example for someone to personalize it if they want. I had originally made one of these bags to sell in my shop, but just couldn't part with it. But here is one for someone else to enjoy....
DEEDLES has won the little Michael Miller pouch and tissue holder! I had a very scientific method of choosing: I scrolled up and down the list six times, stopped, and chose (without looking, of course) the fourth name from the top. And it was Deedles. What a great name.
Thank you for all your nice comments and great suggestions - I am already working on some of them.
That was fun. I think I will do it again. Sometime. Maybe after I make sure I am done with Christmas presents....
Doesn't this flower look like it is throwing its arms out for a hug or a cheerful greeting? It made me smile. "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.." (Ps. 24a)
My name is Kay. I am married and mother to three boys that are all taller than me. Making things brings a smile to my face and hopefully to yours too! Check out my etsy shop at www.prettywithribbons.etsy.com
