Cotton Sweaters Just Don't Cut It

Time to give in to the fact that cotton sweaters just don't cut it in cold weather. And given that we will most likely be moving someplace much colder than Florida, I bought some wool yarn.
This is for a cardigan with a deep, twisted rib stitch (knit through the back stitch). I'll post a picture when it's done (October??). I still think I will need 8 layers to keep warm....

Sunday Blessing

This week has been quite a week. A good friend in the hospital. Another friend's daughter in the hospital. Talks and decisions about our new job and impending move. More and more discouraging news about the economy.

Yet there is still an awful lot of good. We are together as a family, the sun still shines, and pink flowers will always make me happy.

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise". (James 5:13). Good words for both states of mind.

Hold-My-Stomach-In Dress

After looking at too many $165 dresses in the store, I headed to the remnant bin at the fabric store and got this striped almost-ticking fabric for $5. I already had the pattern (McCalls 2501) and (unfortunately) had to add some side seam allowance from when I last made it. :)
A flower from the sale bin at Joanne's Fabrics gives it a little pop. Now if I can only hold in my stomach the entire time I wear it?

Mindless Mittens

Stephan called me last week and asked what I was doing. "Absolutely nothing", I replied. I needed a break from the job-search and needed to sit and do something relatively mindless. Mittens sounded good. It also gave me something to do during the Superbowl....
